How the Akoum bomber jacket is made?

The air is crisper, the leaves are transforming from lush greens to beautiful shades of burnt orange and yellow. It's the season for all things cosy. Just as everyone rushes to add pumpkin spice to everything, Minsangi customers rush to the website in search of the much-wanted Akoum Bomber Jacket.

We always enjoy hearing about your desire to get it ASAP (always the main word). We quickly got to work to ensure that the bomber jackets will reach to you in the given time. But few days after we start proceeding , we get questions like:

"When will I receive my jacket?"

"Why is it taking too long?"

"Have you even started proceeding with my order?"

Yes we do! Always. So in this article we would like to show you how the bomber jacket is made and how it is taking this time.

Sourcing

As a first step, the fabrics are sourced.

We do not store the fabrics, not only because of their costs, but also because it is important to keep the process very eco-friendly. The blue denim is shopped and the white cotton too.

Dyeing

The Akoum bomber Jacket sleeves are hand-dyed. In fact, after you place your order and we shop the white fabric, it is dyed by Sakina, and independant and well talented artist. This means no two bomber jacket are alike. Once you place you order, you are sure to get a very unique and original product. 

The dyeing process is the much longer, as the fabric has to take the colors, and dry with air. This is dependent on the weather. It is a choice, to keep our process as eco-friendly as possible.


Sewing

The fabrics then reach the worktable to be cut. From the moment you place your order to this step, at least five days have always been through. Going through the beautiful movement of scissors to the wonderful sound of sewing machine, your bomber jacket is now ready for you to enjoy.

The Afo-A-Nto'o embroidered boubou dress draws inspiration from the rich royal iconography, heritage textiles, and intricate artisanal embroidery traditions of Cameroon and West African regalia. Ngü-fuo-nto'o, the three KOM royal statues

  Ngü-fuo-nto'o is the set of three royal statues from Kom culture. The well-known statue Afo-A-Kom is part of the set.   The dress is called after the set, because we designed three dresses of this type, with sabra, traditional fabric from Morocco and toghu embroideries from Cameroon.
